January 30, 2010

I thought I would share highlights of the past few days just so y'all could understand how your prayers, volunteer hours and support in many different ways is helping so many needy people that live around us.

Saturday we fed 672 families. About 75 bought frozen meat and fresh vegetables and fruit through our Share food cooperative and saved about 50% off grocery store prices. We also gave them a free box of food.

About 600 other families received a box of food and meat, corn, zucchini and bread or frozen cherries or blueberries.

Also Saturday one of our refrigerated trucks picked and delivered Share food to 8 schools or charities from West Palm Beach to Belle Glade.

Sunday we picked up frozen meat from 12 Publix stores and took it to homeless shelters and soup kitchens.

Sunday night about 11 p.m. someone near and dear to the food ministry got evicted and one of our drivers went out at midnight to help them scoop up their few belongings and furniture and took them all to a relative's home for the night.

Monday one of you wonderful volunteers took food to three shut-ins.

And, also today, based on contacts created by our friends at the Community Food Alliance we picked up several hundred pounds of pork, bratwurst and bread from an event at Roger Dean Stadium and several hundred more pounds of ribs, BBQ chicken, macaroni and cheese and assorted salads from the South Florida Fairgrounds and took it all to soup kitchens and shelters.

I hope this little snapshot makes you feel good about all we do, but don't let me confuse you. This is not an unusual amount of activity. Sometimes there is much more.

It is very clear that God wants us to feed people and let them know Jesus loves them and we love them.

Thanks for your support and prayers!
